From the Life of Things

Chair. Ball. Door. The voice narrates. Objects come to life through sound. Sound conjures up images. Hearing the world.

From the Life of Things

From the Life of Things, a radio play and gallery installation for babies and toddlers, is an immersive journey into the world of sound created by everyday objects. The authors, composer Tomaž Rauch and illustrator Alojzij Gričnik, inscribe into instrumental sounds a verbal message about the addressed object , its quotidian perception and properties, re-portraying it with the sound effect and the line, a drawing in space.

As the composer Tomaž Rauch writes: "Interpretation and reception is up to the audience. They can listen, try to understand or absorb in some other way, instinctively or intuitively, depending on their age, development stage and so on. Above all, in the right atmosphere or space, even the youngest can be attracted to sound; and in the presence of parents, communication, questioning is possible and desirable... The project is an attempt to avoid the daily overload of information, including sound, testing our ability to simply calm down and perceive."

Space emerges for curiosity and imagination.
For listening.
Hear(ing) the world.
