Leo is sick in the hospital. He’s in a room with a chatty little girl, Lučka, and it’s his birthday. The nurse does everything she can to cheer him up, momentarily turning even his hospital bed into a racing sled at the Olympics. But Leo is sad and thoughtful. The doctor tries a playful act so that the stethoscope, probe and nasogastric tube are less scary, maybe even a little funny. But Leo’s mind is on his home, his room, his friend Brin, and most of all he misses his grandma. He wishes she would come see him, but she’s in a nursing home and can’t visit. Is there really no chance? There is a psychologist in the ward, there are other kids and surprises, there’s hope. On a birthday, even in hospital, things can still be “all the best”.
