One of the most renowned researchers in the neuropsychology of music, prof. Stefan Koelsch, former violinist, psychologist and sociologist, now Professor of Biological and Medical Psychology and Head of the Music and Brain Research Unit at the University of Bergen (Norway), will discuss the experience of music and how neuroscientific research is advancing our understanding of the brain mechanisms involved in the experience of music. We will learn about the responses of the brain network, which, like grammatical and syntactic linguistic anomalies, also detect deviations from what is expected in music. Can the dual network also help people when one network is affected by illness? Prof. Koelsch has recently published a popular science book on the healing power of music. We will touch on some of the most proven ways music can benefit us in illness. Head physician Igor Mihael Ravnik, neuropediatrician, will be the host talking to prof. Stefan Koelsch.
